What is SV Racer?
SV Racer is designed to look like an early 80's console based vector-graphics game. The goal of the game is to pass each level as quickly and efficiently as possible, in order to earn a high score. Why would you make such a game?
This game was written for the iDevGames 21 days later programming contest. When complete, the source code will also be released. What do I need to play SV Racer?
Suggested minimum requirements are a 500Mhz Mac running OS X with at least 8MB of VRAM. The game may well on slower machines, depending on the graphics hardware available. How do I play SV Racer?
First, you need to understand the physics of your ship. You can only thrust forward turn and brake. It takes practice to get things under control. Crashing into most anything will destroy your ship, so be careful!
Mines stay put when dropped, but your bullets follow the momentum of your ship, so if you are moving, you will need to lead your shots appropriately. Each mine has a 2-second activation delay during which they are completely inert. If you don't get out of the way before this delay is over... Well, let's just say it's a good thing you have a few lives to learn from your mistakes.
